Since they’ve been around, tactical lasers have always been a really popular product. Children use them for fun and to relentlessly annoy their teachers, while grownups often need them for more practical purposes like presentations or gun mounts.
Shadowhawk have been dedicated to pushing the boundaries of these tactical lasers for a long time. Their products are powerful, military-grade pieces of equipment that completely outshine (literally) every other laser pen on the market, and they continue to be devoted to making such improvements.
Now, however, they’ve released a product complete with a dash of extra fun. Following the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015, you can now get your hands on the Shadowhawk Laser Saber. This model offers the all same specifications and power as every other Shadowhawk model – only this time the physical handle is joyfully shaped like a mini lightsaber. And indeed, this tactical laser is powerful, so it’s likely as close as we’ve come to getting the real thing.
There is an important thing to remember here, though: it does offer the same specs. The Laser Saber may be laced with fun Star Wars aesthetics, but it’s just as powerful as every other product on Shadowhawk’s line, and shouldn’t be played with in the wrong hands.
What makes it special?
Green laser
The Shadowhawk Laser Saber features an improved green laser beam because the good guys in Star Wars are bettergreen lasers are up to 20x more powerful than the traditional red ones. A green laser will also be much brighter at night, and even visible during the day, which just isn’t possible with a red beam. The Shadowhawk Tactical Laser probably can’t be seen from space as some claim, but it’s still incredibly powerful. Green lasers are the way forward.
Solid design
The word tactical’ implies military/law enforcement use, which is just what this laser is suitable for. The compact and lightweight design means it’s incredibly easy to carry on your person at all times without weighing down pockets like some of the more traditional lasers and flashlights. It’s also very solidly built and not likely to damage easily.

What can you do with it?
Because the Shadowhawk Laser Saber is designed as a military-grade piece of equipment, its practical uses are near enough limitless. It must be powerful enough for marines to spot things at a distance even during the day, which means if you were in a survival situation, for example, you could use it to flag down a passing vehicle and potentially save your life. Hopefully you never find yourself in such a dire situation, mind you.
It’s also suitable for more “normal” uses, like functioning as a pointer during presentations or classes. College lecturers would find it particularly helpful as they tend to stand before enormous boards which can be difficult to reach the whole way round. The green laser will be bright and easy to see for those sitting all the way at the back.
You can also have some fun with it, but before you go running down the street shining your laser saber in people’s eyes, it should be reiterated that this is not a toy. In sensible hands, you can still have a lot of fun with it – like running your pet wild. Cats love lasers. Or maybe they hate them. Either way, you’ll entertain your feline friends for hours with this thing.
Or why not even have a lightsaber battle. At the end of the day, why not just drop the grown-up act and have a saber battle with your imaginary friend (best not to do with another person in case you shine it in each other’s eyes), but what’s wrong with rekindling a bit of lost childhood?
Is it really that powerful?
Well, The Shadowhawk Laser Saber may not be powerful enough to burn holes through walls, but it is, at the end of the day, a piece of military equipment and it’s certainly a lot more effective than practically any other model on the market. Just don’t expect to land the laser on the moon.
Extra Features
- Lithium ion battery with up to 5,000 hours of juice
- Various modes including strobe and wave
- Between 95-750mm laser diameter
- Available in different colours (green is still your best bet)
Shadowhawk continues to dominate the market of tactical lasers, so you could do a lot worse than purchasing one of these. Being a fan of Star Wars will now help, of course. Once a tactical laser like this has been made available, it’s hard to go back to anything else.
